Article 6.1: Manage, edit/delete articles with All Posts function in Posts tool

After researching DashBoard Control Panel, we’ll continue refering to Posts tool in WordPress Admin Area.

 

There are 4 functions in the Posts tool:

1. All Posts: Manage, edit/add/delete posts

2. Add New: Add a new post

3. Categories: Manage, edit/add/delete categories.

4. Tags: Manage, edit/add/delete tags.

INTRODUCING ALL POSTS FUNCTION IN POSTS TOOL:

I. All Posts

Select Posts » All Posts to display the screen that manages all of posts on your Website. You need to note 8 items on this screen:

I.1. Item 1.

Add New: Add a new post

I.2. Item 2: All(3) | Published (1) | Draft(1) | Pending(1) | Trash(1)

  • Click on All button to display all posts (except posts you’ve moved to trash). Currently, you created 3 posts.
  • Click on Published button to see all of published posts. You published 1 post on your site.
  • Click on Draft button to see all draft of posts. You have 1 post in Draft.
  • Click on Pending button to see all pending posts ( If you’re an lower-level user. You draft a post. After you’ve done, you send it to a higher-level user. In the waiting time before they approve it, your post is in Pending status ). Currently, you have 1 pending post.
  • Click on Trash button to see all trashed posts. You have 1 trashed post.

I.3. Item 3

The post “How to install WordPress on Localhost” was being drafted and it is in Draft status.

I.4. Item 4

The post “Home” was being published and it is in Published status.

I.5. Item 5

The post “Install XAMPP on Localhost” is in Pending status.

When you focus mouse on a post, you see 4 functions: Edit, Quick Edit, Trash, Preview. Select Edit to edit this post. Enter Quick Edit to edit this post quickly. Enter Trash to trash this post. And finally, select preview to preview this post. This function appears when this post is in Draft status or Pending status. With published posts, you will see View function. Click on View button and you’ll view this post on your website.

I.6. Item 6 (Bulk Actions)

If you want to edit or delete many posts at the same time, you take the follow steps:

  • 1. Tick off posts on the list.
  • 2. Select one action in Bulk Actions listbox.

  • If you select Edit in the Bulk Actions, you will edit the selected posts at the same time. You can change Categories (1) that contain posts, change Tags (2), select Author, allow or do not allow Comments, select status, select format,…(3) After change, you need to enter Update button (4) to save changes. Choose Cancel (5) to cancel changes. Click on (x) icon (6) to remove the selected item out of the list.
  • If you select Move to trash » Apply to move the selected posts to trash.

I.7. Filter function

You can filter posts that published in the same month by selecting a month in the All Dates listbox » Enter Filter button to start filtering posts. If you select All Dates, you will see all posts.

Select a category in the All Categories listbox » enter Filter button to filter posts that belong to the same category. If you select All Categories, you’ll see all posts.

I.8. Search Posts

Enter a word or a phrase in Search box » Click on Search Posts to display posts which have title contains that word or that phrase.

I. All Posts

Select Posts » All Posts to display the screen that manages all of posts on your Website. You need to note 8 items on this screen:

I.1. Item 1.

Add New: Add a new post

I.2. Item 2: All(3) | Published (1) | Draft(1) | Pending(1) | Trash(1)

  • Click on All button to display all posts (except posts you’ve moved to trash). Currently, you created 3 posts.

  • If you select Edit in the Bulk Actions, you will edit the selected posts at the same time. You can change Categories (1) that contain posts, change Tags (2), select Author, allow or do not allow Comments, select status, select format,…(3) After change, you need to enter Update button (4) to save changes. Choose Cancel (5) to cancel changes. Click on (x) icon (6) to remove the selected item out of the list.
  • If you select Move to trash » Apply to move the selected posts to trash.

I.7. Filter function

You can filter posts that published in the same month by selecting a month in the All Dates listbox » Enter Filter button to start filtering posts. If you select All Dates, you will see all posts.

Select a category in the All Categories listbox » enter Filter button to filter posts that belong to the same category. If you select All Categories, you’ll see all posts.

I.8. Search Posts
