The process of making a request (download a file) as follows:

  • Step 1: Browser search DNS information about the Website
  • Step  2:  If this  site  used  an  SSL  certificate  (security connection certificate with the  website  address:  https://...),  Web  browser  requires  the  SSL  certificate.  Web site sends a certificate to the browser which checks that the certificate is believed or non.

Note:  If  the  website  doesn’t  use  SSL  certificate  (website  address:  http://...),  the browser will connect to the server and skip this step.

  • Step  3:  The  browser  start  connecting  to  the  server.
  • Step  4:  After  the connection is successful,  the  browser  will  send requests  and data (if any) to the Web server.
  • Step 5: The browser waits the server to process the request.
  • Step 6: After the timeout, the server delivers  data to the browser so that the browser displays Web page on your computer.

This is the process of handling a full load request which is given from the web browser. Each step will require some time and total time does all steps (from search DNS - verify -connection - the request - wait - receive data) is the completion time of a request.


URL 2XX -  server return 2XX code indicating download a file success

URL 3XX -  Request  from  the  server  to  be  redirected  to  a  different  website  (which contains  the  required  files)


URL 4XX - An error occurred on the client, such as a 404 - not found error


URL 5XX -  An  error  came  from  the  server.
